The storm, one of the most powerful Atlantic hurricanes in the last few years, will hit Haiti in the next 24 hours.

In recent days Concern has been passing vital safety information to the public, and readying emergency supplies to help hundreds of families.

Our teams have been planning for the hurricane’s arrival, sharing information with partners and making sure they have enough fuel and water to help people in the days ahead.

Haiti prepares for emergency

The hurricane has already created 150mph winds in the Caribbean. Some of Haiti’s small islands and towns have been evacuated. Schools have been closed, and could be used as temporary shelters when the storm hits.

Haiti’s government has asked people to stock up on food and water, and secure their homes.

Concern has been working in Haiti for more than 20 years. Our projects help people earn a living, improve public spaces, get safe drinking water and much more.
