Concern helps Syrian refugees

Níall Ó Murchú | 22 September 2014 | 1 Comment

Concern Worldwide is working on the Turkish border to help refugees fleeing from Syria. We’ve already started distributing essential supplies, such as blankets and jerry cans, and food.

Unprecedented surge

Concern’s Regional Director for Asia and Middle East, Brid Kennedy, described the crisis:

This has been an unprecedented surge in such a short space of time and it is overwhelming for the region affected. These people have quite literally run for their lives, and have abandoned their homes and livelihoods with no food or possessions. Our staff report seeing the fear in their faces. Sadly, they have dropped everything and ran. They are extremely afraid and vulnerable. Their lives have been shattered.

These people need assistance and they need it now.
